A writer by skill, biogeographer by trade, voice actor by night and naturalist by destiny.
For years people have told me I have an excellent voice for radio, and as of late I have been taking the steps to capitalize on my unusual vocal timbre. I am currently in the process of honing this talent through dedicated training, and have even built a small (but growing) repertoire of public domain literature recordings through www.librivox.org.
I do not use social media outside of a few essential platforms, such as LinkedIn. This philosophy arose in part from the excellent book "Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World" by Cal Newport.
My focus in geography is a blend of GIS and cartography and environmental management. In particular, I aspire to become a biogeographer. The usefulness of geography as a tool to understand species movements, ranges, and the change in these subjects over time is impossible to overstate. Conservation work undertaken for the sake of species moving rapidly towards the brink has always resonated with me on a profound level, and my desire to join such noble work has continued to grow unabated. As we move through a probable anthropogenic mass extinction event, I feel compelled to use my skills, knowledge and passion for the Earth to preserve our planet’s unique floral and faunal bounty. After all–this planet is the only place in the universe we’re certain harbors life, at least for now.
I don’t think it’s a bad idea to keep it that way.
I've also started a blog site, which can be viewed here.
A project for a GIS and Spatial Analysis class in which I portrayed the range of two petrel species, the Bermuda petrel and Leach's storm-petrel. Data via Ebird.org.
My final project for the M.A. in Geography program at Binghamton University. Utilizes ESRI's Story Maps platform.

I am a longtime fan of the 16-bit era of video games. (Bought the last SNES classic I could find in stores!) I like to keep track of new releases as well.
Entomology is by far my greatest passion, albeit not always the most useful. Regardless, I have lived entranced by the song of humming bees, the kaleidoscope of colors found in butterfly wings, and fell asleep to the soft pulsing light of fireflies in summer.
I'm an amateur photographer often seen around town with my big, clunky bridge camera. Phone camera filters still haven't won me over yet, and I like to take photos the old-fashioned way.
